Traveling Massage Therapist in Maine to give Deep Tissue, Swedish, Hot Stone, Prenatal, Sports, and Chair Massages

Questions?

If you've never had a massage then I'm sure you have plenty of questions. If I don't answer any that you have, please call or email me.
  1. What should I expect for my first visit?

You have the option of waiting in your car or the waiting room, just text me if you are waiting in your car. I provide everything that we'll need: fresh linens, oils or creams, relaxing music, a table, and bolster. Before I give your massage, I will have you complete a health history form so that I am aware of any sensitivities that you may have. I will ask about any problems or pain you're experiencing with your muscles in order to develop the best treatment plan for your body. Beneath a drape that I provide you can undress down to whatever you're comfortable with. From time to time I will check with you to make sure you're comfortable. You may always let me know if the pressure is too strong or not strong enough.

  • What do I wear?

Your comfort is important. All that I ask is that you dress down as much as your comfortable with. In some massage sessions, you may be asked to wear shorts. Regardless, throughout the massage, you will be draped in a manner that ensures safety, comfort, and privacy.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Both of our time is important. I require a 24 hour cancellation notice.  If you would like to change your appointment, please call me at 207-939-0039 no later than 24 hours prior to your appointment in order to avoid being charged.  All "No Shows" and "Last Minute Cancellations" are charged full rate for their appointment. If you are sick, you will not be charged.

  • Am I expected to tip my massage therapist?

Tips are never expected, but always appreciated.  If you have received exceptional service and would like to show your appreciation, please feel free to tip.

  • What if I am uncomfortable during my massage?

Since the purpose of a massage is to relieve stress and tension, it is important that you are comfortable. Always speak up if there is something that you don't like about your massage or if you are uncomfortable in any way. I will always honor your requests, and I always appreciate honest feedback. I will not be offended if you make a request like turning down the heat, adding a blanket, adjusting pressure, etc. While I may be an expert on massage, you are the expert on you, and it is your massage.

  • How often should I get a massage?

A massage everyday would be nice, but we simply don't have the time and money. Like dieting and exercising, the effects of massage are cumulative, meaning they add up over time. If you want to make massage a part of your health maintenance, I recommend at least one massage every 1-4 weeks. Or come in when you have time. I never pressure people to come more often than they want – I believe that it is your responsibility to determine your own needs, and I would never want you to feel guilty for coming less often than recommended. I also book out a little ways, so I am not able to accommodate weekly appointments at this time.

  • Can everyone get massages?
No. There are some conditions or factors that may prohibit you from having a massage. That condition or factor is called a contraindication. The questions asked on the health history form that I have you fill out prior to a massage will help me determine if massage is appropriate for you. Some areas of the body may be contraindicated (i.e. varicose veins, bruising, broken bones), but massage work on other areas of your body can still be done (in majority of cases). There are instances when massage is to be avoided altogether such as if you have a fever, any acute injuries, or an infectious diseases. If you are unsure whether you can have a massage, speak with your doctor.

If I didn't answer one of your questions, feel free to ask!
